What I Learned about Team building for Success from a Second Grader

It’s the Experience

team building for successWhat a day! Each day as a company, Aspire focuses on how to help our clients make more money for our clients through, specifically through motivation in the workplace and teambuilding for success.   As a learning company, we have always delivered experiential learning that started with a feeling of inspiration.  I have always known this to be true and today I got the impact of what great leading can do as I sat in my 7 year olds 2nd grade class. It was truly inspiring to experience motivation in the workplace and teambuilding for success in action at my daughter’s school.

Ms. Davis is a fabulous teacher.  On day one she shared the rules by giving each student a paper bag full of miscellaneous things and a note inside.  The note shared what each item meant.  There was a cotton ball to help the children find comfort and a soft place to land.  A tooth pick so that they would remember to pick what was best in another person and the list went on.

I was so impressed how my daughter stood proudly and shared each item in a very processed presentation to me that evening at dinner.  It had it all pride, inspiration and the knowledge to know how to make something happen.

This is the case for all of us when it comes to educating our Communities/Teams.  More than ever our people need to feel the comfort of a cotton ball, the inspiration of what they can make happen and contribute and the ability to deliver real results.  The secret is to get them engaged.

Frequently we look at training and we se eit as a skill.  Learning how to check someone in or clean a room or get a sale.  The truth is nothing happens at a consistent and quality level without engaging the participant, giving them the inspiration to find their own motivation and then a process that allows them to delivery through skill and process.

As leaders we must think first and foremost about how better to engage people when they have some much on their mind during these difficult times.  Helping people move to a space of empowerment and their ability to make important things happen will build their pride and energize them to get up and get moving.  We need people working harder than ever and I have always been amazed at the potential of people when they tap into a higher purpose to perform.

Motivation in the workplace triggers self motivation and pride.
